I always thought about this kind of scene happening. While Simba reigns, he is trying to be like his father. I can imagine it comes up every once and awhile and at some point he has to tell Kiara about him. I can just imagine her saying "tell me about grandpa" and he'd gush about him under the stars and have a moment with her like him and his father used to.
